Celebrate The Norfolk Extension of the English Coast Path Norman Lamb will undertake the ribbon-cutting ceremony in Trimingham at 14.15 – next year is election year, your presence would underline to our local MP and Care Minister, how important we believe the Coast Path to be – to emphasise that Natural England’s three year budget for all of England’s Coast Path development was only £259,000 – period 2012-2015. However that sum has produced benefits for our Coastal Communities – an example of a little going a long way – if the budget were to be increased 10 fold how much greater the returns would be: increases in local economy and employment, improved health and reduced ill-health related bills and massive gains to communities acting together for social wellbeing. Many walkers, especially those in the RA have campaigned over a long period that there should be better access to our Coasts – it is a shame that Natural England seem to have adopted a low-key approach to this event – the choice of Trimingham is a case in point – the tiny Pilgrim’s Shelter will not hold many people; parking is almost non-existent; thus only a chosen few can be accommodated – but if you and your friends could turn out in good numbers it would demonstrate our commitment and support for walker friendly initiatives of all kinds. You could have a ‘walk-on’ role with Anglia TV or Look East, get really large numbers than – prime-time National Television coverage, a short path to glory? Distance 4.5 miles. Walkers of whatever age or ability are always Welcome in Cromer. START 11.15 Cromer Pier 12.15 Overstrand (lunch stop – Cafe/Pub, personally I’ll carry my lunch) 13.00 dep. Important notice – the bus may well take 25/30 – please let me know in advance if you will attend and how many in your party – we can then make arrangements in advance for an extra service to be laid on, there may be a small extra charge for that service. Due to very limited parking in Trimingham, a narrow road, with poor sightlines it is not possible to strategically park cars at either end of the walk.
