So, firstly, an explanation.

Most of our groups are regional, you join the Ramblers and depending on your postcode you get allocated to a group if you sign up using a paper form or you can pick a group yourself if you sign up on-line (but don’t worry, you can change this later on if you’d like).

Our regional groups are:

Fakenham, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn, Mid Norfolk, Norwich, Sheringham and Southern Norfolk.

For those who like a nice short stroll, and for those who like a ridiculously long walk, we also have:

Legstretchers (distances of around 17 to 22 miles) and Short & Leisurely. There’s also Breckland (who used to be part of the health walks scheme) and Wensum (who offer shorter walks and coach trips).

And then we have Hike Norfolk. They don’t fit into anything, they were the county’s former 20s and 30s group but it evolved to become something special. It’s now for anyone young at heart, but they also have most of the county’s younger members – but by no means all.

So that’s twelve groups, all of whom offer walks throughout the county.

For those who want to read our 2017 to 2018 annual report, it’s available below:

Norfolk Area Annual Report 2017-2018

We have twelve groups in Norfolk Area Ramblers, which might sound a little complex at first.
